Pissed off with Firefox written 5 years ago
I like my firefox, it’s good and extensible and renders things nicely and has cool Live bookmarks, and generally does everything I want it to.
Recently though, I’ve noticed lots of little things that work together to ruin the Fx experience:
Crashes. Oh so many crashes. Yes it’s because I’m browsing x-hundred websites at once, each with a million images and flash doodads on, but heck, stoppit!
Plug-in hell. Even browsing the FireFoxFlicks site causes Fx to crash every now and then, due to the Quicktime plugin crappyness, and this is a site designed for Fx, by people that like Fx! And that’s not even mentioning Java applets.
Safety Myths. You’re encouraged to believe that Fx is safer than all the browsers, that you can generally be stupid and Fx will fight off the nasty baddies. Bollocks. I clicked a link the other day, and all of a sudden Fx starts jumping up and down around the screen, spawning popups, and launching millions of thunderbird sessions. In the aftermath I found many subscriptions to an obscene newsgroup, and a corrupted Thunderbird profile.
Find as you type. I love find as you type, I just start hammering the keyboard and I find things I’m typing. This is all well and good until, say, I want to type into a textbox, and Fx tries to search for every damn letter, instead of typing into said textbox. This pisses me of royally.
Why can’t I bookmark things in the bookmark folder?
Why can’t I get rid of the damn Search toolbar thingy? Why must it always reappear? Why doesn’t it actually do any searching?
FOSS is all well and good, but I don’t think it will ever be able to match the standards of closed source software. Bring on IE7!

says{Totally off topic but i needed somewhere to write it} Kim was very kind to give your website and my website some free advertising last night on http://www.URN-1350.net student radio. Something about it being best to build your own blog rather than using livejournal and the like.
