Microsoft gets the idea written 5 years ago
Apparently Microsoft is launching a new portable media player.
Nothing exciting there.
The player has Wifi, and other interesting things, but the real news worth talking about is that to attract iPod users, Microsoft will let you download songs you’ve already bought from iTunes for free.
This is something that actually very slightly made me think that those big companies out there realise that DRM really is screwing over the end user. Okay, maybe they only realise it’s screwing over their cash flow, but in this case, it might actually benefit the consumer.
There’s even some super blurry photos of the new device. It looks a bit PDA-ish with the large screen. Hopefully Microsoft won’t balls it up.
